Courses
The North Thames Ministerial Training Course offers training for Christian leadership and ministry in four main areas...
Ordinands – a three-year training course, based in London or Chelmsford, for ordinands in the Church of England. Most ordinands gain either a DipHE or a BA Honours degree in Contextual Theology, awarded by Middlesex University. Those with a prior degree in theology may read for an MA Theology and Ministry from King’s College, London, or may pursue a course designed in consultation with NTMTC staff to meet their particular needs.
Readers – a two-year training course, based in London or Chelmsford, for licensing to reader ministry in the Church of England. Candidates study for a DipHE in Ministry, awarded by Middlesex University.
Access Course students – We recently received a grant from the Archbishops’ Council to establish and develop an access course for students who sense a call to public ministry but who are not yet in a position to embark on degree or diploma-level training. Students will be accepted onto this course on the recommendation of their Diocesan Director of Ordinands, or the equivalent representative if they are from a denomination other than the Church of England.
Independent students – Those who are not training for ordination or licensed reader ministry, but who wish to deepen their theological knowledge and leadership skills, are welcome to study at NTMTC. Selection is conducted internally and such independent students read for either the Diploma or the BA, attending classes alongside ordinands and reader candidates. There is therefore no separate programme for Independent Students – for a detailed account of the BA and Dip HE programmes that they take click here.
